We drove up from Richmond on a Friday afternoon and were lakeside by evening. Spent Saturday at Monticello, came back to s'mores by the fire. The kids are still talking about it. Absolutely cannot recommend this enough.
We did Kings Dominion on Saturday — the kids were exhausted and thrilled. Came back to the cabin, fired up the hot tub, and had a lakeside dinner we cooked ourselves. So much better than a generic hotel near the park. We saved a fortune.
We had no idea Wilderness Presidential was only an hour from Richmond. We spent a weekend doing Skyline Drive on Saturday and relaxing at the resort on Sunday. The cabin had everything — hot tub, full kitchen, fire pit. Perfection.
