Things to Do During Your Wilderness Presidential Resort Getaway - Northern Virginia

What Is There To Do While Visiting Wilderness Presidential Resort?

Short answer is LOTS!  But really it does depend on what your interests are, your length of stay and your goal for this getaway.  The Wilderness Presidential Resort is a 'glamping' style resort, combining all your creature comforts of home with nature, resort style activities (seasonal) and local attractions.  We have created a sample itinerary (below) that will give you ideas on what you can do in and around the resort.

Midweek 4 Night Stay - Things To Do
Example of a 4 night itinerary - Arrival Sunday, departure Thursday

Day 1:
Check-in and unpack.  Linens are provided in the camp cabins and we encourage you to bring groceries.  Enjoy the convenience of a fridge and fully-equipped kitchen.
On the first night, unwind and BBQ on the outdoor grill and enjoy the views of your lake.
If you reserved a Redbud Camp Cabin with hot tub, fire it up, watch the sunset and relax.

Day 2:
Rise and shine!  Time to explore the resort.  Take a refreshing dip in the heated indoor pool.  A great way to start your day.
Walk the nature trails and if you are interested in birding, count the number of different bird species you see.
If you like to fish, bring your rod and reel.  Our lakes are well stocked and Jon boats are available for rental.
If fishing is not your style, reserve a paddle boat and cruise at your leisure.
Try our Escape Room for a little excitement or weather permitting, play a round of disc golf on our newly upgraded Hazel Grove Disc Golf Course.
Dinner time!  We recommend that you dine at the local favorite, Harry's Ale House.

Day 3:
Today is a great day to explore our local history.
We recommend visiting the Spotsylvania Battlefields and  Historic Downtown Fredericksburg.  Take a horse drawn carriage ride through Old Town Fredericksburg, visit the many historic homes, try antiquing or shop at the local boutiques and artisan stores.
Lunch - Reserve a table at another local favorite, Foode - Chef/Owner Joy Crump was a contestant on the "Top Chef" television show.
Visit the A. Smith Bowman Distillery and sample one of their award winning, world class bourbons.
Make an early dinner reservation at the extremely popular Fahrenheit 132 Steakhouse.  For a pre-dinner cocktail or appetizer, a great option is Rebellion (directly across the street), this unique bar has a neat 'speakeasy' type lounge on the lower level.

Day 4:
Day trip!  Start your excursion with a stop in at the Country Store.  Stock up on snacks, order a coffee and breakfast sandwich or purchase supplies for a picnic later in the day.
Head towards the Blue Ridge Mountains to see spectacular fall foliage.  Take a leisurely drive through the Shenandoah National Park on the Skyline Drive.  Prime leaf peeking month is October so take advantage of the midweek drive, there is way less traffic.
Before heading back to your Cabin for your last night, stop in at 1781 Brewing CompanyWilderness Run Vineyards.  It is just 3.9 miles from the Wilderness Presidential Resort and offers wine and beer tastings in a picturesque setting.  Visit their Facebook page to see what food truck is available.

Day 5:
Time to pack-up!  Don't forget to like us on Facebook for updates, promotions and special offers.
We would love you to visit us again, this time, perhaps over a weekend and you can try the Adventure Park with Ropes Course, Goliath Ladder and Rockwall.  We also offer kayaks and paddleboards for rental along with many other resort amenities.
